چکیده

This paper investigates the instance complexities of problems that are hard or weakly hard for exponential time under polynomial time many one reductions It is shown that almost every instance of almost every problem in exponential time has essentially maximal instance complexity It follows that every weakly hard problem has a dense set of such maximally hard instances This extends the theorem due to Orponen Ko Sch oning and Watanabe that every hard prob lem for exponential time has a dense set of maximally hard instances Complementing this it is shown that every hard problem for exponen tial time also has a dense set of unusually easy instances

Solving the Traveling Salesman Problem by an Efficient Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithm

The traveling salesman problem (TSP) is the problem of finding the shortest tour through all the nodes that a salesman has to visit. The TSP is probably the most famous and extensively studied problem in the field of combinatorial optimization. Because this problem is an NP-hard problem, practical large-scale instances cannot be solved by exact algorithms within acceptable computational times. ...

A Combined Metaheuristic Algorithm for the Vehicle Routing Problem and its Open Version

Abstract: The Open Vehicle Routing Problem (OVRP) is one of the most important extensions of the vehicle routing problem (VRP) that has many applications in industrial and service. In the VRP, a set of customers with a specified demand of goods are given and a depot where a fleet of identical capacitated vehicles is located. We are also given the ‘‘traveling costs’’ between the depot and all th...

A modified elite ACO based avoiding premature convergence for travelling salesmen problem

The Travelling Salesmen Problem (TSP) is one of the most important and famous combinational optimization problems that aim to find the shortest tour. In this problem, the salesman starts to move from an arbitrary place called depot and after visiting all nodes, finally comes back to depot. Solving this problem seems hard because program statement is simple and leads this problem belonging to NP...

An Improved Modified Tabu Search Algorithm to Solve the Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pickup and Delivery

The vehicle routing problem with simultaneous pickup and delivery (VRPSPD) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem which addresses provided service to a set of customers using a homogeneous fleet of capacitated vehicles. The objective is to minimize the distance traveled. The VRPSPD is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. Therefore, practical large-scale instances of VR...
